Dräger FPS - Model COM 5000 -Communication Unit
In an emergency, there is no time for misunderstanding. That’s why Dräger developed the FPS-COM 5000 communication unit for NFPA-certified SCBAs. Designed to connect seamlessly to the Dräger FPS® 7000 full-face masks, this proven communication unit ensures clear communication through either a tactical voice amplifier or a radio – even in extreme conditions.
Only your voice is heard
The Dräger FPS-COM 5000 allows you to communicate without interference, even in the noisiest environments. Digital noise reduction technology eliminates breathing sounds, ambient noise, and acoustic feedback for crystal clear communication—with or without a radio.
In addition, the earpiece must fit as closely as possible to make sure information is not lost and that radio messages do not need to be repeated. The FPS-COM 5000 has a flexible gooseneck earpiece that easily adapts to different head sizes and shapes. This attention to detail helps prevent miscommunication—so your team has clear direction and can act quickly.
Two speakers mounted on the sides of the FPS-COM 5000 point in the direction the user faces for more effective communication. Speakers are flush mounted to reduce snag hazard and improve balance.
You can use the attached jack to connect the FPS-COM 5000 to more than 350 different radio sets via the external Dräger C-C440 push-to-talk button or the Dräger C-C550 remote speaker microphone. Or you can connect the FPS-COM 5000 directly to the radio and use the built-in push-to-talk button. The communication unit also offers Bluetooth connection to selected radios, including Motorola APX™.
Forgot to turn off the FPS-COM 5000 after your shift? No problem. After a pre-alarm, the communication unit shuts off automatically if there are no breathing sounds for ten minutes. This increases the battery life, lowers maintenance costs, and ensures that your equipment is ready for use when it’s needed.
Combined with the Dräger PSS® BG 4, which can supply you with breathing air for up to 4 hours, the FPS-COM 5000 keeps you in contact with your colleagues during extended missions. Even when performing complex tasks, you can discuss the procedure with your mission leader without having to interrupt your work.
Assembly without special tools
With Dräger’s new click-lock system, the FPS-COM 5000 can be attached and removed in just a few steps. And because the FPS-COM 5000 is protected against ingress of water or humidity with an IP67 rating, there is no need to remove the unit for cleaning of the mask.
