Elixir-Enviro - Counter Current Acid Scrubbers
Counter-current acid scrubbers are integral components within various industrial sectors, such as chemical manufacturing, fish meal production, and rendering plants, serving the purpose of mitigating air pollution by extracting alkaline substances from exhaust emissions.
The fundamental principle underpinning counter-current acid scrubbers entails the interaction between the contaminated gas stream and an acidic scrubbing solution. In this process, the contaminated gas is introduced into the scrubber from one end, proceeding in a direction that is diametrically opposite to the flow of the scrubbing solution. It is worth noting that counter-current scrubbers can be found in configurations both with and without packing materials, and in specific industrial contexts, they are referred to as counter-current ammonia scrubbers.
