Founded in 1998 in Berlin, Pennsylvania, Center Rock was created to be more than a manufacturer — we were built to be a servicing partner. Our founder, Brandon Fisher, saw a need in the industry for a company that could not only deliver reliable drilling tools, but also respond quickly on-site when performance and productivity were on the line.

The Defining Moment: Chilean Mine Rescue

In 2010, Center Rock made global headlines during the dramatic rescue of 33 miners trapped 2,300 feet underground at the San José Mine in Copiapó, Chile. Our team played a key role in the success of “Plan B,” the drilling strategy that ultimately saved the miners’ lives.

Using Center Rock tools, custom-built in record time for the rescue, drillers cut through volcanic rock to create the full-sized rescue shaft — completing the bore well ahead of schedule and enabling all 33 miners to be brought to the surface safely.

The mission was a turning point that demonstrated not just the power of Center Rock tools, but the commitment of our team to solving the world’s toughest drilling challenges. It remains the proudest chapter in our company’s history.
