The Rota-JETTER Culvert Cleaning Machine clean culverts by the use of rotation and mid pressure water.  Our developed process has the rotation of a sewer cleaner but also applies water  to wash out sediment and other blockage.  While in the culvert any tree roots will also be removed by the cleaning tool.  The cleaning is completed normally with two processes.

Bore pilot hole through culvert and come out the other end.   Remove Pilot Bit and attaché the proper Culvert Cleaning Tool.  The Culvert Cleaning tool has small holes which deliver water to the proper areas where needed.  As the tools is rotated and pulled back through the culvert the rotation and water wash the blockage materials out the other side.  If the culvert is totally blocked by pushing the Cleaning Toll back and forth from one end and back to the other allows the unit to push and wash more of the blockage materials.  Example: 20” Culvert that was about 30’ long was completely packed with East Texas red clay.  The Pilot hole was bored through to the other side in just a few minutes….  We bored from the high side down to the low side of the culvert.   This allows the water and cuttings to flush out the low side as the cleaning is one.  In the first pull-back cleaning process a big gob of clay was pulled out the entry side of the culvert   Based on how packed it was with clay we decided to push Culvert Cleaning tool back thought with rotation and water applied.  This pushed a lot more clay out the low side…  Then we pulled the cleaning tool back to the entry side.  At this point we could have done the push back and pull back one more time.

The Rota-JETTER Culvert Cleaner Machine can operate down in the ditch straight in line with culvert and also operate up on the road grade out of any sitting water.  The Drill stem can flex down into the Culvert and the power unit can operate up on the shoulder high and dry!  It operates equally well both ways.  When you are able to operate in-line it normally would allow setup with fewer feet of drill stem.

The County Roads Manager checked the culvert and felt that it was clean enough to allow proper water to flow.  The above process, Setup, Pilot bore, Cleaning , and load back on to support unit took about a hour.  In most cases a culvert this size would take about 20 to 30 gallons of water to clean.  This culvert took over a 150 gallons of water because of the Clay.  With the  500 Gallon tank we had plenty of water of it and to go do more.   We were told after loading  Rota-JETTER Culvert Cleaning Machines  that that Culvert we just cleaned  was scheduled for replacement next week.   With our units ability to clean the Culvert it eliminated the county from having to $300.00 replacement culvert fee and labor to do it.   They also said the road would have been cut for more than 4 to 5 days while compacting and re-surfacing road.

The amount of more than $2,500 was talked about, that the Rota-JETTER Culvert Cleaning Machine saved the County.

The Rota-JETTER Culvert Cleaning Machine can clean more than 90% of Culverts that have to be removed and replaced because they are too full to clean another way.
