R4 is a compact data acquisition system build around SIRIUS DAQ technology. Systems feature DualCoreADC® analog inputs with 160 dB dynamic range and acquisition speeds of 200 kHz per channel or optional high-speed amplifiers with speeds up to 1 MHz per channel.
R4 chassis can hold up to 4 SIRIUS DAQ slices with the total of 64 analog channels, 32 counter/encoder channel, 96 digital channels and up to 4 high speed CAN bus ports. An array of different amplifiers are available to acquire signals from virtually any senors.
R4 can be configured with up to:
- 64 analog HD channels or 32 isolated channels,
- 92 digital channels,
- 32 counter/encoder channels and
- 4 CAN bus input channels
in one compact, rugged chassis. Multiple R4 DAQ systems can be connected and synchronized together or combined with other Dewesoft DAQ instruments to extend the channel count.
R4 DAQ systems can be configured with built-in SBOX computer. SBOX is powerful data processing computer and highly reliable SSD data logger. It is equipped with Intel Core i7 CPU, 4 GB of memory and fast SSD storage. This provides a highly reliable data logging unit and enough processing power for storing and processing data from thousands of channels.
The R4 SBOX computer is equipped with all the modern interfaces for connectivity and expansion:
- Network interfaces: 2x GLAN, 1x WLAN.
- USB 3.0: 4x USB 3.0 ports for data acquisition devices like SIRIUS, DEWE-43A, and peripherals like mouse, keyboard, printers and external hard drives.
- EtherCAT master port: for connecting any of our EtherCAT data acquisition devices like KRYPTON or SIRIUS.
- HDMI video: for connecting an external display.
- GPS receiver: optional built-in 10 Hz or 100 Hz GPS receiver with an option to connect external GPS display.
R4 systems can optionally be configured with up to 32 analog output channels. These output channels can function in any of the following modes:
- standalone digital signal amplifier,
- multi-channel function generator for modal/shaker control,
- control channels or
- a replay of the analog data.

For added real-time control capability visit R8rt DAQ and control system page. R4rt is a unique solution on the market. It has additional real-time EtherCAT bus and can feed data to any 3rd party EtherCAT master controller for real-time control.
R4 DAQ system is equipped with EtherCAT master port which can be used to expand and distribute additional DAQ channels with any of our EtherCAT based DAQ units like SIRIUS and/or KRYPTON.
EtherCAT port includes built-in hardware synchronization hub for synchronization of all the connected EtherCAT DAQ channels with internal R4 DAQ channels. Only one cable is needed to daisy chain the units. The single cable runs data, synchronization, and power to all extended EtherCAT devices.
SBOX computer inside R4 instruments can be configured with optional 10 Hz or 100 Hz GPS receiver with optional Real-Time Kinematics (RTK) support for the most precise (down to 1cm) position-based test and measurement applications.
GPS and RTK option will transform R4 system into powerful automotive data logger for the advanced position based test and measurement applications like pass-by-noise, vehicle dynamics, brake testing, road load data, ADAS, etc.
