SHARE

Hydrogen peroxide found many applications in various fields such as medicine and food industry who use it for disinfection and sterilization, but also in cosmetic production, paper industry and particularly in water treatment. H2O2 is used to eliminate organic pollutants and lessen H2S effect. However, it’s also involved in corrosion phenomenon and creation of oxidizing species, highly aggressive for the organism. Dissolved H2O2 concentration’s control is an important parameter to adapt water treatment, especially for H2S oxidation on one hand and in the other hand, for sewage networks and intervention staffs’ protection.

Dissolved H2O2 measurement can be done with 2 probes type:

  • MS08 device for a portable or laboratory measurement. This kit contains a data reading box and 2 linked probes. The titanium probe is composed of the H2O2 amperometric micro-sensor and the other probe is a temperature sensor.
  • The CTD48 system for an online application in the environment. The probe contains several sensors in the head. The titanium protection cage integrates a H2O2 amperometric micro-sensor, a pH sensor and a temperature sensor. It can also contain a pressure sensor. Measured data are operated through the embedded electronic in the probe’s body. A CTD48M version that records data is also available.
Fields of applications
  • Sewage network monitoring
  • H2O2 injection optimization
  • Staff protection before intervention
Measurement principle

H2O2 passes through a membrane pervious only to gases. It reacts with a redox catalyst, creating a product that undergoes an electrochemical oxidation at the working electrode. The H2O2 concentration is proportional to the current intensity generated by the reaction, that goes from 0 to 400 pico-amperes and is converted in 0-5 V.
