The process meters and applies dry colorant in the discharge area of the grinder during primary grind. This material can then be stockpiled or processed immediately. During final grind, water is added in the grinder and the hammermill action drives the color deeply into the wood, resulting in brilliant colored product at production rates limited only by the capacity of the grinder.
