Sandvik DTH hammers and drill bits are designed together to work in perfect unison, giving high penetration rates, long service life and low costs. The RH550-series hammers and bits features solutions, which optimizes impact-energy transmission into the rock. With no foot valve, a reversible casing and very few parts, they are reliable, easy to service and fast.

Sandvik manufactures a wide range of drill bits for both Sandvik DTH hammers and other brands of hammer. Fitted with high-grade cemented carbide buttons, including our proprietary grade XT48. The bits are available in various configurations, shapes and designs to ensure maximum penetration rates, good flushing and long service life.

Sandvik offers two types of solutions for casing and drilling simultaneously.

The CDC system drills straight and comparably deep holes and has to withstand the toughest conditions. Therefore the system is designed for easy withdrawal of the pilot bit, hammer, and drill pipes, leaving the casings and ring bit in the ground whereas the rest of the system can be reused. This system is also the more efficient when it comes to drilling straight holes through bolders and other types of overburdens.

The TUBEX XL system on the other hand is the preferred option when the holes are relatively shallow, and you quickly want to move on to drilling your next hole. Leaving the TUBEX XL casing shoe in the ground is more cost efficient than using the CDC system in this case. It is also the preferred system when drilling extra deep holes, as the pilot bit and reamer can be changed without pulling out the casing.
