The concept of separate collection was born between the late Middle Ages and the Renaissance , but it was in 1800 that it solidified throughout Europe. Even in Italy the first rules were issued which even provided for prison sentences, such as the decree of May 3, 1832 which obliged people to maintain hygiene in the streets of the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies. In the period following the Second World War, the waste produced by homes was still quite contained and for the most part made up of organic materials and in biodegradable or reusable packaging. But starting in the 1960s , a massive use of disposable plastic packaging beganwhich, not being biodegradable, therefore needs to be collected and eliminated.

The first waste management involved burial in landfills or combustion, but in the last thirty years of the last century, groundwater and atmospheric pollution led to the search for effective methods for the separate collection of waste aimed at their recycling and reduction of waste production.

The first form of legislation dedicated to the disposal of solid urban waste in Italy dates back to 1941 (Law 366) which will be followed by other decrees and laws until 2006 with the release of Legislative Decree no. 152 which reformulates the entire environmental legislation. Over the years, therefore, the need to collect the useful materials contained in the waste has increased in order to be able to send them for recovery in special regulated containers.

Roplast manufactures the Ecobell and Ecoplan bells for the separate collection of glass, plastic, cans and metal in linear polyethylene with the rotational molding technique , resistant to shocks, vandalism and atmospheric agents. They do not require maintenance and can be transformed and reused after use.
