EcopureModel QSS -Cross-Flow Packed Bed Filters

SHARE

Ecopure QSS cross-flow packed bed filter systems are based on the sorptive process and are especially suitable for purifying hot exhaust gas flows. The adsorbent used is a bulk material. This is generally limestone, which is an inexpensive but highly effective adsorbent for Air Pollution Control.

Operating principle Ecopure® QSS

The exhaust gas flows through every filter module of the Ecopure® QSS cross-flow packed bed filter system at right angles to the filter surface. The pollutants are bound to the granulate and chemically converted. This removes them from the exhaust gas. Some dust is also trapped in the filters.

To ensure that the exhaust gas always passes through fresh adsorbent granulate, discharge rollers at the base of the cascade remove the used granulate from the filter module. Fresh granulate then automatically slides down from the container above the filter module.

The amount of granulate that is removed depends on the quantity of pollutants in the exhaust air. The amount is set for one cycle of the discharge rollers during the commissioning process.

Ecopure® QSS cross-flow packed bed filter systems are used primarily for purifying hot exhaust gases emitted by ceramic kilns, for example. They are also found in the chemical, waste treatment, and recycling industries.

Ecopure® QSS cross-flow packed bed filter systems are used to purify hot exhaust gases (up to a temperature of 300°C) that are produced by ceramic kilns. They remove gaseous hydrogen fluoride which is adsorbed by limestone granulate. They also extract some of the dust from the exhaust gas. The systems can reliably achieve a hydrogen fluoride level of < 3 mg/Nm³ in the clean gas. The filter configuration can be modified to produce lower levels of pollutant in the clean gas.

In special cases, this type of filter can also be used to separate the following pollutants by filling the cross-flow packed bed filter with a suitable adsorbent (for example activated carbon or special lime products):

  • Sulfur trioxide, sulfur dioxide (SO3/SO2)
  • Hydrogen chloride (HCl)
  • Hydrocarbons
  • Heavy metals
  • Dioxins

Ecopure® QSS cross-flow packed bed filters are usually made of normal or heat-resistant steel. They have a compact and robust design. They consist of upright filter layers filled with adsorbent or absorbent material. These are arranged inside the filter in parallel with one another, in one or more vertical filter modules (cascades).
