"Moving wet, clay-based Red River gumbo can be one of the most challenging conditions in North America to work in. When I started, I was using the conventional pull-scrapers available at the time but was frustrated because they weren`t meeting my needs. They couldn`t handle the tough conditions, resulting in too many stress fractures and too much downtime. They kept bogging down in the mud."

2000

In the winter of 2000, the first K-Tec Earthmover was manufactured. More than 900 man hours were spent on the manufacturing and design of this first K-Tec scraper.

2001-03

Throughout the years of 2001 and 2002, K-Tec added high-tensile steel and countless hours of field trials. The design was refined into a durable, light-weight solution to moving massive amounts of dirt.

"Using my experience and insight as a dirt mover, I was able to build innovations that reduced labour cost and increased performance: reduced the need for greasing down to two points per day, overcame flotation problems, and developed a weight distribution system that enabled the scraper to perform without the need for excessive horsepower and fuel."

Initial production facilities were built in 2003 and the first production run of scrapers were manufactured and sold.

2004-05

K-Tec went into full scale production in 2004, producing and selling 44 scrapers. K-Tec scrapers are engineered by earthmovers, for earthmovers.

In 2005, K-Tec Earthmovers Inc. was awarded the Young Entrepreneur of Manitoba Award. This recognition was the beginning of the company growth that would shortly follow. K-Tec established themselves in the local community by becoming involved in local festivals, as well as sponsoring several non-profit organizations.

2006-07

In 2006-07, K-Tec was gaining recognition in the construction equipment industry; building scrapers that load faster, use less labour, and get better fuel efficiency, with a durability that maximizes uptime and lifespan. K-Tec formed long-lasting relationships with several key equipment dealers during this time.

2008-10

In 2008, K-Tec Earthmovers attended their first ConExpo construction tradeshow in Las Vegas, NV. The Manitoba Business Magazine recognized K-Tec Earthmovers as one of the fifty fastest growing companies back-to-back years of 2008 and 2009.

K-Tec survived the "great recession" and persevered to continue business without ever closing the doors. This was accomplished by using work-share schedules, instead of layoffs, to retain our valuable and talented staff. K-Tec also focused on the scraper rental market to help out contractors in the challenging economy.

2011-13

K-Tec adds Russ Goossen as part owner and Chief Executive Officer of the company. K-Tec also instituted a Leadership Team, where strategic decision making is determined by the group consensus. 2011 also marked the start of construction for a new manufacturing facility and office renovations.

The new manufacturing facility and ISO 9001 certification were completed in 2012.

2014-15

In 2014, K-Tec attended ConExpo 2014 in Las Vegas and featured a new 1243 ADT scraper model.

In 2015, K-Tec had record breaking production numbers. The newly designed 1263 ADT replaced the 1254 ADT as the World’s Largest Scraper. The 1233 ADT Trains were also released to market. K-Tec also released a line of Land Levelers.

2016-17

in 2016 K-Tec released the 1228ADT to attach to smaller Articulated Dump Trucks and an Ox Block Pusher Accessory.

In 2017 K-Tec attended ConExpo 2017 and experienced record booth interest.

K-Tec shop expansion to add more than 50% of fabrication floorspace, and increase production capacity.
