2E Mechatronic - Enclosures for Acceleration Sensors
The enclosures for acceleration sensors are specifically designed to house small electronic components within vehicles. These components are strategically positioned to ensure optimal functionality. The enclosures utilize Press-Fit technology for electronic connections, which facilitates secure integration with vehicle electronics through internal connectors. Constructed primarily from PBT with glass fiber reinforcement, these enclosures offer superior resistance to high temperatures and mechanical damage. The contacts, made from tin bronze, are selectively tinned or silver-plated to maintain low transition resistance and minimal heat development. Manufactured via a fully automated process, the enclosures undergo rigorous testing for dimensional accuracy, sealing, cleanliness, and functionality, ensuring they meet stringent automotive industry standards. This process also allows customization to meet specific client requirements, all while adhering to IATF 16949 certification standards.
- This version of the accelerometer housing is designed to accommodate
- tiny electronics that must be installed correctly in the vehicle.
- The connection to the electronics is achieved using press-fit technology.
Side airbag sensors - housing technology from the specialist
The airbag is an element that the driver, ideally, never sees, but which can save their life in an emergency. Our housings for side airbag sensors are manufactured in large quantities with the utmost precision, which is why many manufacturers entrust us with this demanding task.
Housing technology for airbag sensors
In most cases, specially adapted types of PBT plastic are used as the starting material. These exhibit high temperature resistance and, thanks to their glass fiber reinforcement, are highly resistant to mechanical damage. The contacts are made of tin bronze and are selectively tinned or silver-plated to ensure the best possible contact. This ensures low contact resistance and minimal heat generation. The connection to the electronics is made using press-fit technology, and the connection to the on-board electronics is made via an integrated connector. The overmolded metal socket ensures reliable mechanical fastening in the vehicle. The housing is sealed by laser transmission welding.
Advantages of fully automated production
The demands placed on electronics, and thus on the housings that intervene in the brake and airbag control systems, place the highest demands on component quality. Only fully automated manufacturing and testing processes allow for very large quantities with consistently high quality. Each part is manufactured in a single process and tested within the facility for dimensional accuracy, leak tightness, technical cleanliness, and functionality. Continuous monitoring, further development, and improvement of the processes are an ongoing task. Individual customer requests can be accommodated through modifications to the tools. Our manufacturing processes are certified according to IATF 16949 and therefore meet all quality requirements for supplying the automotive industry.
