The project was initially sponsored by Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL) and Ministry of Science & Technology in partnership with Indian Institute of Petroleum, Dehradun.

Achievements & Accolades
We were jugged as the winners of innovation challenge – WHR – Facility for Low Carbon Technology Deployment (FLCTD) for development of Regenerative burners. Facility for Low Carbon Technology Deployment (FLCTD) is jointly implemented by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO). Developments at the R&D centre

Gaseous film burners, These burners have been commercially successful and are giving a saving of upto 16% compared to the conventional burners.
Gas Heating Elements which can retrofit any heating elements (electric energised) application upto 550°C temperature. This technological innovation of Gas Heating Elements has won the ‘First Prize’ for the ‘Best Technology’ during Techmart’99 India International Trade Fair (IITF’99). The gas heating elements also bagged the ‘EXCELLENCE IN TECHNOLOGY’ from CII 2003.
High velocity burners at this facility that can be energised by any kind of liquid and gaseous fuel. These burners are being used in Reheating furnaces and tundish preheaters throughout the country.
Low calorific value burner (Main & Pilot Burners): These burners are being used in integrated steel plants around the world for various application
Regenerative burner : We were jugged as the winners of innovation challenge – WHR – Facility for Low Carbon Technology Deployment (FLCTD) for development of Regenerative burners. Premix burners : These have versatile usage and can be used in multiple geometries. Ring, Straight line, Plus, Square etc.
Development of Burners for low Calorific value gases we have burners for gases with calorific value as low as 780 kCal/Nm3

State-of-the-Art Facilities

Our R&D facilities are equipped with two test furnaces with the latest technology and tools necessary for research and testing and data Collection . This includes:

High-performance computing systems for thermal simulations and modeling.
Flue Gas Analysers
Pressure Monitoring and Controlling
Flue Monitoring and Controlling
Capability to Test Various Gaseous (including Hydrogen ) & Liquid Fuels
