Iron-Creek - Enhanced Thermal Conduction (ETC) Thermal Soil Remediation Technology
Enhanced Thermal Conduction (ETC) is a patented onsite thermal process that heats stationary contaminated soil, volatilizes the contaminants, and destroys the off-gases. This design allows for much lower operating costs through higher thermal efficiency, compared to other thermal technologies. It is no longer necessary to relocate petroleum or explosives contaminated soils to landfills. We offer award-winning technology that is proven to return contaminated soil to its original state, preventing the need to truck in non-native soils.
What is Enhanced Thermal Conduction (ETC) Thermal Soil Remediation Technology?
Our patented technology is a green, cost-effective way to restore terrestrial ecosystems from petroleum based oil spills with minimal impact. Unlike traditional thermal remediation processes, soil can be treated on-site while meeting stringent environmental regulations. Treating soil at contaminated locations allows us to treat 100% of the problem, eliminating the cost, liability and greenhouse gases of trucking or shipping it elsewhere.
Most impressive is our ability to use petroleum-contaminated soil to fuel our ETC technology to clean impacted areas. Our methods use hydrocarbons from waste to power our thermal process.
Once treated and tested, native soil is replaced and can be safely revegetated with native plants. Treatment is quiet, predictable and safe, meeting stringent environmental standards that allow us to operate anywhere in the world. In fact, our technologies are responsible for the restoration of some of the most pristine environments on the planet.

- Cost-effective thermal remediation;
- Effective with persistent and difficult to treat waste matrices
- Logistics simplicity & flexibility of operational deployment;
- Scalability;
- Zero reject, no matter the treatment material soil type or moisture content;
- Significantly reduced safety exposure (no rotating equipment – screeners, drums, conveyors, etc.);
- Quiet operations;
- Removes contingent liability and eliminates the need for trucking, landfilling, etc.;
- Guaranteed treatment timelines & treatment outcomes;
- All-weather capability.

Our clients depend on our team to deliver complete remediation of all organic contaminants, safely, on time, and on budget.
Treating Contaminants from the Arctic Circle to Antarctica
Reclaim land with explosives-impacted soil. Our Enhanced Thermal Conduction technology safely restores soil, allowing cities and states to safely rebuild. Pictured is a photo from the notable Ravenna Army Ammunition Plant in Ohio where artillery was made for WWII, the Korean and Vietnam War.
Restoring Antarctica`s Soil
Our technology meets the most stringent environmental regulations on the planet, taking our team to Antarctica to restore impacted soil in challenging conditions.
Soil Restoration Edson Pipeline
11,000 tons of hydrocarbon impacted soil in Edson, Alberta was restored in approximately 6 months. Our Enhanced Thermal Conduction technology utilizes petroleum-impacted soil to fuel the restoration treatment.
70-Year Old Hydrocarbon Contaminants
The remediation of this heavily impacted hydrocarbon dump site in Yukon’s City of Whitehorse took 11-months to fully restore.
- Safe, predictable & cost-effective.
- Proven methodologies to delist waste, reducing paperwork.
- On-site treatment eliminates the liability associated with transporting hazardous waste.
- Our patented systems are mobile, fitting into the cargo area of small planes, allowing for the restoration of contaminated soil and sediment in the most pristine places on Earth, like Antarctica and the Arctic Circle.
- Treated soil can be safely seeded and revegetated to facilitate surface reclamation, sustainable plant growth and equivalent land capability.
- There is no requirement for soil pre-treatment or screening.
- Our process is 100% waste free. There is no reject material from treatment.
- We work within the confines of the site and are proficient at adapting to meet the needs and regulations of the location.

The photo on the left shows the visible change in soil after Enhanced Thermal Conduction treatment. Because the operation is static, the process doesn’t pulverize the soil like other thermal treatments. Thus, the soil maintains the integrity of its structure while it’s evenly penetrated with heat. ETC can treat even the most thickest clays.
