Envirotech - Comms Room Water Leak Detection Packages
A complete leak detection package designed to protect small to medium Comms Rooms from being damaged by water. Includes an alarm panel, connection cables, 20m of sensor tape and an external beacon.
Protect your data from being destroyed in the event of water ingress using the Comms Room package. This kit of parts contains everything required to detect the presence of water in unwanted areas. Leaks from pipes that pass through or over the comms room or from condensate drip trays that may overflow due to blocked drainage pipes. Utilising sensor tape installed under the raised floor (this can also be fitted around the periphery of the room if there isn’t a raised floor) connected back to a water leak detection alarm panel. Should water be detected by the sensor tape, the alarm panel will immediately sound and a warning light comes on. At the same time an external beacon that can be installed on the outside of the Comms Room will start to flash. There is a volt free contact relay available for connection to the BMS, should this be a requirement. This kit also comes with line fault monitoring, which will alert you should the sensor tape or connection cable become damaged or broken. Monitoring the environmental conditions in a computer room has always been critical because of the risk of lost data. Even smaller Comms Rooms using wall mounted AHUs (Air handling Units) run the risk of water ingress coming into contact with sensitive electronic equipment.
By fitting a water leak detection system in the Comms Room, the risk of costly water damage can be significantly reduced as any water present will be immediately detected and an alarm raised.
The comms room water leak detection kit from Envirotech Alarms Ltd, is specifically designed to protect smaller Computer Rooms up to around 5m x 5m. (other systems are available for larger areas and bigger data centres). The package contains everything required ensuring that installation and the continued operation is as easy as possible. In the pack there is a LeakStopper 1 alarm panel, a connection cable, 20m of sensor tape, floor clips, mains connection lead and an external beacon.
The LeakStopper 1 panel is mounted either inside the Comms Room or just outside. The connection cable is routed down to the floor (or under the floor if the floor is raised). Sensor tape can be positioned either around the periphery of the room or in a zigzag formation allowing maximum coverage. The beacon can be fitted outside the Comms Room usually above the entrance and will flash a bright amber light should a leak be detected. There is also a volt free relay within the LeakStopper 1 Panel that can be used to connect to the BMS (Building Management System) if required.

The water sensors (conductors) used for leak detection are separated by a carrier and the water acts as a path for very low electrical signal to pass from one to the other. It is this action that triggers the alarm.
In addition to having the ability to detect water leaks the LeakStopper 1 can also signal an alarm should anything happen to the integrity of the connection cable or sensor tape. Should the connection be accidentally pulled apart or any of the cables damaged some reason, the LeakStopper 1 Panel will sound a buzzer and switch on a warning light.
