Special gases and mixtures such as food grade carbon dioxide (CO²), nitrogen (N²) and oxygen (O²) are used in various processes of the food industry. These gases, defined as additives, provide pest control as well as increase production, reduce microbial growth, extend shelf life, and assist in processing and packaging of foods.
