G&G - Intermediate Bulk Container (IBC) Tank Agitator
IBC tanks (Intermediate Bulk Container) or also called GRG tanks (Large Container for Bulk Materials) consist of plastic tanks, high-density polyethylene (HDPE), which are wrapped in a 600-volume aluminum mesh box. 1,000 liters, with 1,000 liters being the most used.
They have a hole in the upper part that is usually 150mm or 220 mm, through which the agitator is inserted.
The agitator is anchored (by means of a square plate) to an easily interchangeable variable width support, made of Galvanized Carbon Steel. Said support is fixed to the structure of the tank and can be adapted for lifting and transport with the claws of a motorized forklift.
For this type of tanks, agitators with a direct or fast motor (agitators without gearbox) with a marine propeller or slow agitators with a geared motor and folding turbine can be used, depending on the required application.
G&G Ingenieros recommends the use of slow agitators due to their technical advantages. In addition to never passing through the critical speed since this is always above the operating speed, the propeller, being foldable, has a larger diameter and better performance, so the agitation will be more homogeneous.
The agitators for IBC containers are the perfect solution to keep the contents of this type of tanks homogeneous.
You can use it as a mixing tank, saving on transfers and cleaning.
- The portable agitators can also be used in IBC tank agitator.
- Transporting the agitator through different containers requires a common fixation for all containers.
- Another system consists of transporting the containers while keeping the agitator fixed in a mobile structure fixed to the wall or movable.
- Plastic containers with a metal outer cage allow a support to be attached to the cage.
