The HICOS DVB gas-insulated system is designed for secondary electrical distribution, integrating a vacuum circuit breaker with a three-position disconnector in a single compact unit. This system uses vacuum interrupters and places both components in a sealed, gas-filled stainless steel container. The gas serves as the insulation for live parts, allowing for a reduced footprint with unit compartments as narrow as 375 mm. Such a design is beneficial for constructing air-insulated switchgear (AIS) and medium voltage/low voltage (MV/LV) transformer substations. The HICOS DVB systems integrate in a single apparatus the functions of circuit-breaker and three-position disconnector (open-closed-earth). The two apparatus are arranged in a sealed stainless steel container filled with gas. The circuit-breaker is made with the use of vacuum interrupters. The contacts of the disconnector are isolated in the gas. The gas constitutes the insulation of the live parts. The dimensions are very small and allow the construction of unit compartments with a minimum width of 375 mm.

They are also available for installation in third-party manufacturers’ panels.
