GENOMICA was founded in 1990 with the initial objective of providing a scientific response to the social need to implement a reliable method for the identification of persons by DNA testing. In only three years, the company completed the design and assembly of the DNA laboratories of the Spanish Civil Guard and Scientific Police. Subsequently, it carried out the same work in several countries in Latin America and Africa, while offering kinship analysis and genetic identification services. GENOMICA is currently the leading company in genetic-forensic identification in Spain and the first one accredited by the National Accreditation Entity according to the requirements of the ISO/IEC 17025 standard for this type of tests.

Thanks to the experience accumulated by GENOMICA in DNA technology, the company took a solid step towards its entry into other sectors, such as in vitro diagnosis by molecular techniques. In the mid-nineties, the first products for the diagnosis of infectious diseases were marketed.

In 2003, the development of CLART® (CLINICAL ARRAYS TECHNOLOGY) began, an innovative technology based on low-density microarrays, which has made it possible to offer solutions of high diagnostic value in this type of disease.

This reliable, fast and robust technique meets the fundamental needs of healthcare professionals in clinical diagnostics. CLART® is currently being applied not only to microbiological diagnostics, but also to personalized medicine and oncology.

In 2006, GENOMICA began a process of internationalization that has led the company to be present in more than 30 countries around the world.

In March 2020 GENOMICA became the first Spanish company to launch a Real Time PCR COVID-19 detection kit with CE marking. Later, the Real Time PCR line has continued to grow with new products for the identification of SARS-CoV-2, Influenza A, Influenza B and RSV, and the Influenza A and B typing.
