Blue-Earth -Â Model Media Master RR -Granular Media Rehabilitation for Filter Maintenance
Media Master And Media Master RR Media Master and Media Master RR are granular formulations developed specifically for in-place filter media rehabilitation. These products are designed for removal of organic and inorganic deposits on anthracite, sand, activated carbon and other types of granular media. Treatment with Media Master and Media Master RR is a fast, convenient and economical alternative to media replacement. Filter cleaning improves performance and extends media lifetime. Media Master RR is recycle ready.
BENEFITS: Treatment with Media Master is a fast, convenient and economical method for in place filter media rehabilitation. Deposits are removed and the original surface structure of the filter media is restored. The results are better filtration performance and extended media lifetime.
DESCRIPTION: Media Master is a granular formulation developed specifically for filter media rehabilitation. The product is designed
for in place removal of organic and inorganic deposits from anthracite, sand and other types of granular media. The product is used alone or in conjunction with Floran Catalyst®. Application of Media Master requires initial laboratory testing (provided by Blue Earth Labs) to determine correct dosage of the product.
APPLICATION: Media Master granulate is spread across the top of the drained filters at 1-20 pounds per cubic foot of media to be
treated. The product can be applied in its dry form or pumped on as slurry, which is prepared by adding water. After spreading, the water level is raised to just cover the filter media surface. One half to one gallon of Floran Catalyst per 7 cubic feet of media is then pumped or poured into the filter to initiate the reaction. The reaction is allowed to proceed for 12-24 hours, working downward into the media bed. The treatment is completed by thoroughly backwashing the filters, which are then ready to be returned to service.
STORAGE: Media Master is stable as long as it is stored in a dry place.
DISPOSAL: The runoff generated during the cleaning procedure can be discharged to the wastewater drain or sludge lagoon. It is
neutralized by adding liquid or pelletized caustic soda. Specific local disposal requirements may apply.
BACKWASH RECYCLYING: When diluted at a minimum of 500:1 with potable water, Media Master/Floran Catalyst can be recycled to the beginning of the water treatment process. This does not constitute a recommendation or approval of any substances in the effluent stream other than the NSF authorized materials. Recycling of the backwash water will result in a temporary conversion of free chlorine to chloramines.
SAFETY: Media Master is chlorine free and compatible with surfaces commonly used in filtration beds such as concrete, steel, and fiberglass. Respiratory protection must be used in order to avoid exposure to fumes (organic vapors/acid gas) which can be generated during cleaning, depending on the water supply and type of contamination. Also, proper protective clothing has to be worn to prevent skin and eye exposure.
