ProtecGrizzly Rake

SHARE

The Grizzly rake has been developed and patented by the company Wild Metal GmbH. The rake is a self-cleaning protective screen for water intakes of hydroelectric power stations or drinking water systems and requires no drive. It consists of a robust, hot-dip galvanized steel grid and an underlying fine screen. The form of the upper protection bars is adjusted to the natural water flow – the construction method and the space between the bars are adjusted on site.

The screen is in large part self-cleaning, the undesired particles are transported with the flowing water. The penetration of sand into the water intake is minimized thanks to the small gap width. Separation systems like trash rack cleaner are mostly not necessary, the sand trap can be dimensioned smaller, which affects the construction costs economically.

Function of the Grizzly Power PROTEC

  • In case of high water, bigger stones, rootstocks, boughs (> 30 mm to 50 mm – depending on the situation in the river) slip away on the protect rods, so the under lying fine screen is protected in large part.
  • Fish and small aquatic creatures > 0.2-2 mm, depending on the gap width, can overcome the fine screen without problems and move on with the running water.
  • Leaves, pine needles, small pieces of wood, moss and other sediment are transported by 0.2-2 mm, depending on the gap width to the watercourse
  • Only particles
