HEL PolyBLOCK - Compact Automated Parallel Chemical Synthesis Platform
Designed to maximize your laboratory’s productivity, parallel synthesis technologies with PolyBLOCK is easy to use, flexible and compact multi-reactor system. With either four (PolyBLOCK 4) or eight (PolyBLOCK 8) independently controlled and monitored zones, PolyBLOCK 4 offers working volumes of up to 500 ml and PolyBLOCK 8 up to 120 ml. Reactor options range from 1 ml HPLC vials to round or flat-bottom flasks up to 250 ml and custom reaction vessels up to 500 ml. Agitation in each zone is independently controlled and temperature monitoring and control is offered with either reactor and/or zone temperature.
Temperature Control
- Ambient to 250 ⁰C (without external cooling)
- Options to decrease the range down to -40 ⁰C (circulator dependent)
- Separate mantle around each reactor allows the temperature to be controlled individually, with a range/difference of over 100 °C between the reactors
Independent Stirring
- Indirect agitation with magnetic stirrer bar as standard.
- Suspended mechanical agitation for efficient mixing on small-scale and non-viscous samples.
- Optional Overhead direct agitation for larger vessels.
Intelligent Software Control and Analysis
- labCONSOL software control enables regular data logging, multi-step recipes, parameter control, and feedback loops. The software adds a responsive intelligence to the PolyBLOCK systems and still delivers an intuitive interface that needs only minimal training to run quickly.
Safety Features
- Include automatic user-configurable reaction detection and shutdown procedures, to ensure user safety.
- Automatic hardware and software fail-safes are installed on every system.
Condensing Options
- Easy quick-connect solution for condensing and inerting in larger reactors. Seals allow condensers to be removed without cooling liquid spillage.
- Also available reflux and inerting block, with adapters for vials, tubes, and reactors
Reactor Options
- Vessel types are available in Glass, Stainless Steel, or Hastelloy. With reactor volumes up to 500 ml.
- High Pressure and Vacuum Systemsavailable, more details on our high-pressure system can be found via PolyBLOCK High Pressure.
- Sampling Systems through active pumps, manual dip tubes, automated level control, or multisampling units, like the ASU.
- Reagent Addition through fully automated liquid and gas feeds as well as volumetric syringe pumps. These solutions can be applied to both high and low-pressure systems.
- Control Options all relevant inputs can be logged, enabling automated monitoring and, where appropriate, feedback control of the reactor system.
- Sensor Options
- Temperature, pressure, pH, turbidity, conductivity.
- Integration of third-party probes is possible, such as in-situ FTIR, particle sizing probes and Raman probes.
Reactor options for process screening, optimisation, and scale-up
HEL`s multi-reactor platforms accept a wide range of reactors including: HPLC vials, test tubes, reaction tubes, flasks, custom reactor vessels, and even high pressure vessels. Working volumes can range from as little as 1ml all the way up to 500ml fully stirred reaction vessels.
Vials and Tubes
- Volumes between 1ml and 30ml.
- Agitated with magnetic fleas or suspended stirrers
Flat-Bottom Round Flasks
- Suspended mechanical stirring.
- Multiport PTFE lids.
- Volumes between 5 and 250ml.
Custom Reaction Vessels
- Efficiently stirred with suspended mechanical stirring.
- Volumes between 75 and 500ml.
High Pressure Reactors
- Options for both screening and optimisation
- Efficiently stirred with suspended mechanical stirring.
- Up to 24 parallel samples per zone.
- Volumes between 2ml and 400ml.
HEL`s WinISO software for controlling parallel reaction systems offers ease of use, with a choice of interfaces
- Choice of touch screen or conventional PC / Laptop interface
- Real time editing of ramp rates, run times and set points
- Data is easily exported to Excel or similar packages for further analysis
- Option of full recipe design, with multi-user interface
New : Now available with touch-screen control and logging of...
At the heart of the controller sits HEL`s WinISO Touch software. It is confirgured to "Plug & Play", and comes in 2 sizes - Compact 7" or Standard 15.6". Controls are simple and intuitive, and data is recorded and displayed graphically, in real-time. All cables and connections to the devices are supplied, allowing immediate data logging and control.
Customised and tailored versions of the controller are also available. Additional inputs (e.g. pH, pressure, etc) and a range of different controls can be implement on request. Chemists running demanding and complex applications are invited to contact our sales team to discuss their requirements - our motto is "if you can describe it, we can automate it !"
Reflux and inerting manifold and block
- Easy quick-connect solution for condensing and inerting in larger reactors
- One connection for inert gas and water supply
- Allows use of traditional condensers
- Seals allow condensers to be removed without cooling liquid spillage
Also available reflux and inerting block, with adapters for vials, tubes and reactors.
Independent stirring, measured and controlled
Magnetic stirring
Traditional strirring with magnetic bars (fleas) is possible in all PolyBLOCKs, especially when small vessels or vials are used. The larger "suspended" stirrers are ideal for slurries, typically in vessels above 75ml when used with PB4, featuring stronger magnets and motors.
Suspended mechanical stirring
Good mixing of liquids and suspensions is possible using "suspended" stirrers, especially with larger vessels on PB4.
Overhead stirring
This modular option is available with either High-Speed or High-Torque motors to suit application requirements.
Each sample is separate with its own temperature sensor and controller. Thus, temperatures can be independently set and controlled with a temperature range of over 100º C at any time.
To achieve temperatures below ambient, chilled fluid must be added which lowers the operating.
