TEIJIN Tenax - High-Performance Tenax Filament Yarn for Composites
Tenax™ Filament Yarn by Teijin Limited is a robust carbon fiber product engineered to enhance the structural properties of both thermoset and thermoplastic composites. It offers high tensile strength and high tensile modulus, making it ideal for applications in sectors such as aerospace, automotive, industrial manufacturing, and more. The yarn is available in a wide range of specifications, from 67 to 3,200 tex, and is compatible with various processes, including prepregging, filament winding, weaving, braiding, and pultrusion. Tenax™ Filament Yarn is specially coated with fiber sizing which not only protects during handling and processing but also ensures optimal wet-out. It supports compatibility with different resin systems including epoxy, polyurethane, and vinylester for thermoset applications, and PEEK, PEI, and PA for thermoplastics. Depending on its properties, export of carbon fibers may require authorization, guided by international export control regimes.

The benefits of carbon fiber sizing
The application of a thin coating to the surface, known as fiber sizing, protects Tenax™ Filament Yarn during handling, processing, compounding, and composite processing, while improving wet-out. A wide range of available sizings make Tenax™ Filament Yarn fully compatible with thermoset matrix systems, including epoxy, polyurethane and vinylester. Teijin also offers products with tailored thermoplastic sizing compatible with thermoplastic matrix systems, such as PEEK, PEI and PA.
