Highlighter - Model Gen I -Identifying and Defeating Improvised Explosive Devices (IED)
Identifying and defeating Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) before they strike is one of today`s most pressing Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) challenges. The GA-ASI Highlighter system is an airborne electro-optical sensor package that locates potential IED threats and alerts ground forces for further onsite investigation. In addition, the extremely high‑resolution imaging system produces a wide range of other data products.
Highlighter includes airborne image acquisition, analysis, and dissemination tools and is integrated into a C-12 aircraft. Trained imagery analysts and automated analysis tools identify potential threats for immediate dissemination via encrypted voice/data communications. There are 10 standard mission types and data products in addition to custom products requested regularly. C4ISR Journal recognized Highlighter in its "Big 25" sensors for 2009.
GA-ASI`s Claw software is a key Highlighter component providing mission planning tools, sensor command and control (cross-cueing), and dynamic re-tasking.
