Becker & HicklModel HPM-100 -Hybrid Single-Photon Detector

SHARE

The HPM-100 series, designed by Becker & Hickl, represents advanced hybrid single-photon detectors integrating a photocathode, electron acceleration system, and silicon avalanche diode. Electrons emitted from the photocathode accelerate towards the avalanche diode, amplified by substantial electron-hole pair generation, ensuring efficient detection of current pulses. These detectors excel in Time-Correlated Single Photon Counting (TCSPC) systems, achieving exceptional time resolution due to low transit-time spread, enabled by high acceleration voltages. The HPM-100 detectors cater to diverse applications, providing a wide spectral range and high quantum efficiency. Notably, these detectors surpass traditional photomultiplier tubes (PMTs) in counting efficiency by eliminating electron losses in the initial stages. The absence of afterpulsing is another significant feature, offering high dynamic-range fluorescence-decay recording. With a robust design incorporating high-voltage generators and a low-noise preamplifier in a shielded metal casing, these detectors are well-suited for rigorous scientific research.
