ICT - Model LC-P -Water Absorbing Polymer

LC-P is used for curing lost circulation and is added to pills along with fibrous material like LCF Blend. Normally it is spotted at the lost zone on bit trips where the polymer can swell and cure the lost circulation as a trip is made. It swells in fresh water to 380 times it’s original size. It starts swelling in 20 minutes and is fully swollen in 2-4 hours. It works best when used with a fibrous material to get an excellent particle size for proper plugging. LC-P can also be used in conjunction with fibrous material as a sweep material to aid in cuttings removal.

• Composition: X-L copolymer of acrylamide and potassium acrylate
• Bulk Density: 0.75 g/cc

• Particle Size: 5-10 mesh

Normal pill treatment is 0.25-0.75 ppb of LC-P along with 25 ppb fibrous material, depending on the size of the pill. Up to 1.0 ppb has been used on some severe wells. Ideally, first mix the fibrous material in the pill and then add the LC-P right before pumping. When using as a sweep, smaller dosages can be utilized with good results.
