Immunochromatography Test (ICT)

SHARE

Immunochromatography test (ICT) is a membrane-based immunological technology. It is used to detect specific agents in a biological sample. To this end, capture antibodies directed against the targeted pathogen are coated on a nitrocellulose membrane. A second antibody is conjugated to colloidal gold nanoparticle or colored latex beads, and dried on the conjugate pad zone of the membrane.

Immunochromatography test is a ready-to-use assay. The biological sample is first diluted in a provided dilution buffer before being dispensed on the conjugate pad zone of the membrane. Once loaded, it rehydrates the dried conjugated antibody. If the sample contains the targeted antigens, rehydrated conjugated antibody and antigen interact each other. The resulting complex then migrates on the nitrocellulose membrane by lateral flow capillarity to reach the test line where it remains bound to the first antibody adsorbed onto the nitrocellulose. A colored line appears on the test line. Solution continues to migrate to encounter the control line where a second immunoreaction happens to validate the proper migration of the test. Result is visible within 5, 10 or 15 minutes, depending on the test. Please refer to the provided instruction for use (IFU) for a complete and precise procedure.
