Magnetic Hold - Industrial Magnetic Separation Rods
Magnetic separation rods from Magnetic Hold, Inc. are designed specifically for use in environments with slow, free-flowing materials such as grains, food, spices, plastics, and chemical fertilizers. These rods are versatile in installation, allowing for either single or staggered rows to optimize separation efficiency. Standard spacing measures 2 inches horizontally and vertically, but can be adjusted based on product flow characteristics to prevent bridging and ensure cleaning access. They come in varying strengths and lengths, with options like Ceramic 5 for capturing larger ferrous metals and Neodymium for smaller contaminants. The construction utilizes polished 304 or 316 series stainless steel, with diameter specifications of 1 inch and lengths varying from 4 to 60 inches. Magnetic rods also cater to temperature requirements ranging from 176°F to 662°F, making them suitable for challenging environments in food and pharmaceutical processing.Magnetic Separation Rods are commonly used in slow, free flowing materials such as grain, food, spices, plastic and chemical fertilizer. The separation rods can be installed individually in one row or multiple rows. Standard spacing between the rods are 2-inch horizontally and vertically center-to-center. When multiple rows are needed for better separation, the rods should be staggered. Other center-to-center arrangements can be accomplished depending on product flow characteristics and flow rates. The rule of thumb for determining the center-to-center distance is that installations must not cause product bridging and must allow easy access for cleaning.
These magnets are provided in different strengths and lengths. Multi rows of magnetic rods with Ceramic 5 magnetic load (2,500 Surface Gauss) are suited to capture large ferrous metals (i.e. nuts, bolts, washers, nails, etc.).
Magnetic rods with Neodymium magnetic load are recommended for applications where ferrous metal contaminants are much smaller (i.e. metal chips, stables, metal shavings, etc.). Magnetic Hold offers several magnetic rods with neodymium load for your application. They are listed in table below. The stronger magnetic rods are highly recommended for food and pharmaceutical products.
Magnetic rod’s shell is from 300 series stainless steel (304 or 316) polished to a smooth finish. The rods are an inch (25 mm) in diameter from 4 inches long to 60 inches long. End plugs are continuously welded and can be smooth (300 S.S.) or threaded and countersunk (400 S.S.) to your specifications. Magnetic rods can be manufactured for working temperatures from 176 °F (80 °C) to 662 °F (350 °C).
