FORMULA 105 Industrial has a great affinity for suspended solids and vapors in water, and complexes with them in such a manner as to control their ability to create odor. This product has been used for many years to eliminate odors in wastewater lagoons of agricultural and chemical plants, in air scrubbing equipment, in sludge, and has been successfully used for treating odors from sewage, plants producing sulfur odor, and wastewater containing zirconium sediment, among other things.

Effective Odor Control
Neutralizes water based odors without perfumes, masking agents, oxidizers. No chlorine-based products or other dangerous volatile organic compounds. FORMULA 105 remains within the system into which it is injected--doesn’t migrate into the atmosphere. This product is effective in small amounts. As a rule of thumb, we recommend 1 part of FORMULA 105 per 100 parts suspended solids and vapors in water (1:100). Product is most effective when agitation is present to ensure dispersion to all areas of containment ponds, lagoons. Usage in air scrubbers is determined by on-site tests.

Environmental Safety
FORMULA 105 Industrial has been tested by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources (one of the nation’s most environmentally stringent) and judged “not harmful to the environment”. Ideal for lagoons where aerobic bacteria are present; does not harm bacteria’s ability to digest solids. FORMULA 105 is non-carcinogenic and biodegradable in water. Suitable for land application when used in wastewater where that is permissible. Accepted by the USDA for use in inedible processing areas.

Human Safety
FORMULA 105 is non-corrosive, non-volatile, non-toxic. It does not burn or irritate skin, eyes, or breathing passages. If product comes in contact with skin, simply wipe off with paper towel, then wash with soap and water. If in eyes, flush with water.

Cost Effective
Unlike some products often used, FORMULA 105 was designed to neutralize odor, and relatively small amounts are required. This product is sold in 55 gallon drums, not tank loads. Since less is required, this can mean a savings in storage space, time and manpower. Often it means a savings in money. The amount effective for odor control may well cost less overall.

Machinery:
Does not promote machinery wear and breakdown, unlike some caustic and corrosive oxidizers, even in equipment operating at high temperatures. FORMULA 105 does not promote foaming. Unlike some products sold for odor control, no additional acids or other chemicals are required to alter pH. No additional expensive equipment needed to inject FORMULA 105 into wastewater system, just a simple chemical metering pump.

Lagoons:
When used to deodorize a zirconium plant’s wastewater, FORMULA 105 accelerated the flocculation of heavy metal sediment. In wastewater with aerobic bacteria, this product seems to assist bacteria. When FORMULA 105 combines with suspended solids, it not only reduces their ability to create odor, it also appears to reduce their appetite for dissolved oxygen in water. This leaves more oxygen for bacteria in the water. The bacteria become more vigorous, and digest waste more efficiently.

• A rendering plant in Texas tried FORMULA 105 in their air scrubber and also tried chlorine dioxide, which appeared to be cheaper. In the long run, the plant manager concluded that the problems associated with large amounts of chlorine dioxide (using three pumps that were prone to breakdown with that chemical) vs. small amounts using one pump made FORMULA 105 the reliable and cost effective choice.
• A biopharmaceutical plant in Massachusetts used FORMULA 105 to control lagoon odors, and continued regularly injecting small amounts. Their total suspended solids were in the range of 3500 ppm. Less than 6 months later, it was under the 400 ppm threshold level set by local wastewater authorities. The money that the plant saves on monthly sewage upcharges more than pays the cost of FORMULA 105.
• An older facility operated by a gas company in Alberta, Canada used small amounts of FORMULA 105 to control sulfur odors -- and reduce neighbors’ complaints -- while waiting for their new plant to finish construction. FORMULA 105 helped the company with public relations.
• An innovative hotel in St. John, US Virgin Islands has a unique facility that recycles wastewater for landscape irrigation. In addition to wanting minimal grey water odor, the aerated septic holding tank was near the pool area. After an initial "jolt" they found 80 ounces a week of FORMULA 105 was sufficient to maintain an odor-free system in a lovely tropical environment.
• A wastewater treatment plant in Texas substituted FORMULA 105 for a biocide, and were able to control hydrogen sulfide odors without harming bacteria.
