Ferric chloride and ferric sulfate are examples of iron-based coagulants, used in drinking water and wastewater treatment. The iron-based products can also be used for reduction of odor and corrosion.
Aluminum sulfate is one of the most common aluminum-based coagulants. It has been used for different water treatment purposes throughout the 20th century, and can still meet the increasingly stringent quality requirements for drinking water.
