Calcium is a component of natural waters. Together with magnesium calcium forms the hardness of the water. Water with high hardness generally contains lots of carbonate ions which, due to their buffering effect, act as a stabilizer for the pH-value. Hard water is not in itself harmful to animals, but the lime scale formation will start clogging the drinking nipples over time. Leaking nipples are often the first signal for an excess of lime scale precipitation and result in wet litter and an increased water usage.

What is Cal-Clean
