KathyonResin Softening Equipment

SHARE

Resin softening equipment, commonly known as a water softener, is a water treatment device that removes calcium and magnesium ions from water using ion exchange technology. Its core purpose is to reduce water hardness and prevent scaling. The core component of this equipment is a tank containing ion exchange resin. Resin is a water-insoluble polymer particle with a large number of sodium ions on its surface.

When hard water (rich in calcium and magnesium ions) flows through the resin layer, the resin preferentially adsorbs the calcium and magnesium ions in the water, while releasing an equal amount of sodium ions, thus achieving water "softening". The equipment operation consists of two main cycles: "water production" and "regeneration". When the resin`s adsorption capacity is saturated, the equipment automatically enters the regeneration process. During regeneration, a high-concentration sodium chloride solution (salt water) is used to rinse the resin, displacing the adsorbed calcium and magnesium ions, which are then discharged with the wastewater, restoring the resin to sodium ions and regaining its softening capacity.
