KinexModel QuickFeed -Cap Feeder

SHARE

A cap feeder, also commonly referred to as a cap sorter or a cap orienter, is an automated machine used in bottling lines to place caps onto containers. Open containers are transported to a cap feeder by either a conveyor or star wheel. As the containers pass through the cap feeder, a cap is placed on each one. Cap feeders typically consist of a bowl and a chute. Bulk caps are loaded into the bowl. The bowl sorts and orients the caps so that they exit the bowl in a single file row with the correct orientation before entering the chute. The caps slide down the chute and are deposited onto the containers. The containers are then conveyed to an automatic capping machine for secure tightening.

The Kinex QuickFeed™ is not only a cap feeder, it is a complete cap handling system. Most cap feeders only include a cap sorting bowl and a chute, but do not include a means for placing the caps onto the containers. The QuickFeed™ performs all of the cap sorting, cap orienting, cap feeding and cap-placing functions. The cap sorting bowl of the QuickFeed™ sorts, orients, and delivers caps to the cap chute. The integrated pick-and-place system picks the caps from the bottom of the chute and places them onto the waiting containers. The built-in bottle gating system manages the flow of bottles in and out of the cap feeder and supports the containers during the cap placing process.

The QuickFeed™ was engineered to optimize the accuracy and reliability of the cap feeding process. It incorporates intelligent programming that automatically pauses operations when a cap or bottle is not present. The pick and place system can be programmed to rotate the cap by any degree, from 0° to 480°, securely starting the cap on the threads of the container in preparation for capping. This feature helps to eliminate cocked caps and loosely placed caps that may fall off the bottle before they can be tightened.

The QuickFeed™ offers exceptional versatility and productivity, able to feed caps ranging from 18mm – 80mm in diameter at a rate of up to 60 caps per minute. It is designed to work with flat caps, or caps with minimal external features. It can accommodate screw on caps, lug caps, child resistant caps, tamper evident caps and snap on closures. Changeover from one cap size to another is fast and easy, taking minutes rather than hours and almost all change over adjustments are tool-less.
