Laboratory High Shear Mixers
Benefits of choosing a ROSS Laboratory High Shear MixerWhat does a ROSS Laboratory High Shear Mixer do? Perfectly designed for research and development, the ROSS Laboratory High Shear Mixer is ideal for reducing the size of agglomerates and droplets in fine dispersions and emulsions to create scalable, highly repeatable products. How does a ROSS Laboratory High Shear Mixer work? The Laboratory High Shear Mixer design consists of a single stage four-blade rotor that turns at high speed within a stationary stator. As the rotating blades pass each opening in the stator, they mechanically shear particles and droplets, and expel material at high velocity into the surrounding mix, creating intense hydraulic shear. As fast as material is expelled, more is drawn into the bottom of the rotor/stator generator, which promotes continuous flow and fast mixing.
-
Design - The laboratory batch model is made with high quality type 316 stainless steel wetted parts and is a tabletop standalone mixer that consists of a single stage, four-blade, 1 3/8" rotor. The rotor/stator of the batch model is generally positioned 2 - 3 head diameters off the bottom of the vessel, and slightly off center. To ensure adequate suspension of heavier solids, the rotor/stator generator may be positioned in the center of the vessel.
-
Ease of Use - The color touchscreen controls and display for speed, percent of load, batch timer and temperature. The optional data acquisition/PC controls allow for the mixer to be connected and controlled from a computer via USB, Ethernet or wireless hub. Data may be downloaded as a CSV file and viewed in Excel or Access format.
-
Flexibility – Designed for use with different size beakers and vessels up to around 3 gallons, the laboratory mixer features interchangeable stators that provide unlimited flexibility to adopt to a variety of product formulations. In addition, this versatile tool is offered with a range of interchangeable attachments including sawtooth dispersers, propeller blades, micro and inline rotor/stators.
