SuperStingLandfill Monitoring System

SHARE

The SuperSting Monitoring System is an add-on module to the SuperSting Wi-Fi, our multi-channel electrical imaging system. It monitors landfills, well sites, dams, and other unattended locations where changes of resistivity conditions over time must be recorded and analyzed.

This network-aware system is designed to be monitored remotely, so you can access the data no matter where you are located. Results can be automatically emailed from the server to any email address at the finish of a task, and notification email messages can be sent at start of a task. In the case of an error, alarms can be sent by email.

The data from the SuperSting Monitoring System can be used whenever you need to know changes over time, including:

  • Monitoring leaking in dams and levees.

  • Monitoring leaching in landfills.

  • Monitoring pollution.

  • Time lapse studies for locating landslide prone areas.

All dams leak. Engineers at a dam need to be able to understand where water is leaking out in order to select the proper location to repair the leaks. The engineers know it will be expensive to guess, then dig and repair each hole without knowing the volume of water leaking from each, which is where our dam monitoring system comes in. With the SuperSting Monitoring System, the engineers can get real-time dam monitoring on leakage, so they know where to repair before an emergency occurs. With this knowledge, they can save money as well as protect the life and property of those below the dam.

The system consists of a SuperSting system on a remote location connected to fixed measurement cables and powered by two battery banks. The deep cycle batteries are charged constantly except when used by the SuperSting, and the battery bank is isolated from the chargers for precision measurements during operation. The server software runs on a PC on the remote location and controls measurement tasks to execute on a time schedule.
