Atmospheric Pollutants: In addition to dust and noise, the emission of airborne pollutants is a major challenge in our cement business. While dust and noise are produced at many stages in the production process, airborne pollutants such as carbon monoxide, sulfuric oxide, heavy metals, dioxin, and furan are produced only during pyroprocessing. The emission of these pollutants is monitored on an ongoing basis, and we are committed to reducing airborne pollutants with new filtering technologies and innovative production processes. This mitigates the impact of our activities on the environment and human health.

Water Management

We adhere to strict environmental protection regulations in order to ensure that our mining activities do not endanger local groundwater, rivers, or lakes. In the very near future we will publish a report about the water footprint of our cement business. Reports for our ready-mix concrete and aggregates business are also being prepared. In countries and regions with water shortages, we implement measures to minimize water consumption.

Waste Management

In the area of waste management, our primary emphasis is on mitigating the cement kiln dust that is produced during clinker production. This dust is removed from the kilns in order to prevent large dust deposits, which could lead to kiln failure. We utilize this dust as an alternative raw material during cement production, thus augmenting our ecological efficiency.
