SCFI - Model AquaCritox LP -Low-Pressure Hydrothermal Oxidation System
The AquaCritox LP is a low-pressure hydrothermal oxidation (Wet Air Oxidation) solution specifically aimed at treating purely sulphidic spent caustic streams. The multi-step hydrothermal oxidation process uses air as the oxidant and operates at pressures up to 5 barg and temperatures up to 160°C.
- Waste TypesSpent caustic
- Operating TemperatureUp to 160°CO
- perating PressureUp to 5 bar
- Residence Time1-3 hours
- COD Destruction95%+
The treated effluent from the AquaCritox® LP will contain some level of thiosulphate suitable for discharge to a downstream wastewater treatment facility. The table below indicates expected effluent quality relating to a sulphidic spent caustic stream.
Tailored solutions can be offered for waste streams with flow rates below 15 m³/h. The main OPEX consideration for this process is maintenance related to rotating equipment and control valves. Low pressure and temperature operation allows for simple process equipment with limited maintenance requirement.
