McDonald - Model MC-II -Incubator Compl. With Inlet / Outlet, Material Glass
This McDonald`s jar lives up to its name and is traditionally made of glass with the highest quality workmanship in the EU. The McDonald`s jar is the classic incubation vessel for the artificial and controlled incubation of fish eggs and is similar to the well-known Zuger jar from Europe. It is used for incubating, for example, trout, salmon, perch, catfish, tilapia, and many other fish species. The special water flow mimics natural incubation conditions, with the water flow rate being the directly adjustable parameter. The water temperature and other water quality parameters are indirectly controlled via the water supply. The McDonald`s incubator can be operated in both flow-through and recirculation modes.
Unlike the Zuger jar, the fish water is supplied from the top and exits at the bottom in the area of the semicircular base, rises evenly in the cylindrical section, and flows out through the overflow in the upper chamber. The flow-optimized container shape ensures that the eggs are kept in constant, undulating motion, depending on the water flow rate. This minimizes or largely prevents the eggs from sticking together and the resulting fungal growth. To prevent the eggs from flowing out unintentionally, a removable screen is provided in the upper section.
After the larvae hatch, the screen is usually removed, and the floating larvae are collected in a separate container/basin (not included).
