Ennex - Mechanical Biological MSW Treatment Plant
The main motivation of residual waste treatment with biological processes is based on the “EU-landfill directive”. The target is a reduction of the residual waste volumes to be land filled – especially a reduction of biodegradable contingents. To transfer the resultant defaults efficiently in the plant construction means to treat the residual on different stages mechanically. With the right mechanics as a combination of grinding, conveying, separating and mixing technology the fine fraction (mainly organic material) is separated for the following biological treatment.
The biology can be done aerobic (composting) anaerobic (fermentation) or as a combination of both.
Aerobic waste trreatment is normally a two shaft process. The first treatment step is the intensive rotting, mostly carried out as tunnel composting, with different technical implementations. The main advantage is the individual process control of each tunnel. The process of tunnel composting is basically characterized by the forced aeration with air circulation to provide an optimal rotting process with an adequate water content of the rotting material and an intensive supply with oxygen at a constant heap temperature. Only the self-contained construction gives the possibility of specific technical aeration and central exhaust air collection with subsequent treatment.
The second stage of the aerobic treatment is mostly implemented as secondary rotting. After the aerobic treatment follows the fine treatment with loading systems for the separated contingents.
The anaerobic biological processes for the treatment of residual waste can be performed as a wet or dry process. Generally the aerobic treatment as a one- or two-step process follows the fermentation technology.
AMB now puts the focus on a concept for biological treatment that is based on the principle of wet fermentation with following wet oxidation. The objectives and tasks are always defined specifically for each project. But the central point of these process conception is the production of biogas.
