MASCOT - Model DeFlo Mini -Mechanical Desuperheater
The DeFlo Mini Mechanical Desuperheater, developed by MASCOT, is engineered to efficiently reduce the temperature of superheated steam in industrial settings. This desuperheater features a compact design requiring minimal space, from 1.5 to 6 inches of face-to-face space, making it suitable for existing piping configurations. It utilizes a mechanical spray system that injects water from the periphery to the center, minimizing thermal stresses and allowing for enhanced heat transfer. With sizes ranging from 1 inch to 48 inches and pressure ratings between 150# and 4500#, it is equipped with a stainless steel sleeve for thermal stress management and offers a 4:1 turndown ratio. Its design ensures no vibration or changes in steam line velocity, contributing to precise temperature control. Built for ease of installation, the DeFlo Mini aids in energy efficiency by maintaining optimal steam temperatures. The MASCOT’s DeFlo mini mechanical desuperheater, known for its space-efficient design, requires just 1.5 to 6 inches of face-to-face space in existing pipework. Offered in wafer or flanged configurations, this desuperheater utilizes multiple fixed-sized jets around the inside periphery of pipe for enhanced heat transfer before the injection of water.
Available in sizes from 1″ to 48″ and rated from 150# to 4500#, it features a stainless sleeve for thermal stress management and exhibits a commendable turndown ratio of 4:1.

Our MSD (Mechanical Spray Desuperheater) has sized jets appropriately positioned within the desuperheating pipe to face the steam flow.
Proper desuperheater application and design will minimize and certainly eliminate costly problems such as wear on downstream piping, extended startup/shutdown times, and reduced process efficiency.

- Peripheral Injection: As opposed to the conventional fixed nozzle desuperheaters where water is injected from the center in outward direction which has the potential to cause thermal stresses in the downstream pipe our desuperheater injects water from inside periphery of pipe towards the center of the pipe to completely avoid thermal stresses in the downstream pipe.
- No Vibration or Suspension in Steam Line: The desuperheater does not alter the steam pipe geometry nor is a probe suspended into the steam line thereby eliminating any chance of vibration or increase in velocity in the steam line.
