Vobis - Mechanical Vapor Compression or Recompression (MVR)
Mechanical Vapor Compression or Recompression (MVR) can be implemented with our single or multiple effect Falling Film Evaporator Systems or our Forced Circulation Evaporator Systems. This enables low temperature operation under vacuum operating conditions and accommodates heat sensitive materials. The systems also have low energy consumption and can eliminate cooling water as a necessity for condensation. Heat from the condenser is recovered rather than lost and utilized in the evaporation process.
Vobis evaporators with Mechanical Vapor Recompression (MVR), also known as Vapor Compression Evaporators (VCE), operate via an electrical heat pump, fan or blower principle. Water or another volatile component is evaporated, and subsequently the vapor is recompressed mechanically by a highly efficient compressor, fan, or blower, increasing its saturation temperature and releasing its latent heat.
- Our vapor compression evaporation systems are manufactured in a wide variety of materials of construction of the process wetted components, dependent upon the application requirements. Appropriate materials can include various stainless steels, Duplex steels, and titaniums.
- Allen Bradley or Siemens PLC control systems are typically implemented to accurately and reproducibly control our mechanical vapor recompression evaporation systems.
- Skid mounting or Modularization allows easy installation as well as ready access to all piping, control elements, pumps and process vessels.
Vobis Vapor Compression Evaporators or MVR evaporators are more energy efficient than multiple effect evaporators alone and are thus more operationally cost-effective due to the very high efficiency of the electrical compressor, blower and/or fan that is implemented at the heart of the system providing the energy for evaporation.
Only electrical energy is needed; neither steam nor cooling water is required during operation, so these systems can be implemented where steam is unavailable. Unlike thermal vapor compression evaporators, mechanical compressors eliminate the need for any steam once the system is operational.
Our VCE (MVR) production systems can utilize either single or multiple effect falling film or forced circulation plate evaporators which have the added advantage of requiring only a small product inventory.
