The Malmberg Membrane Diffuser is the solution to the problem of clogging in diffusers at water treatment plants. With its fine-bubble design, the membrane provides very high levels of oxygen transfer in relation to air quantity, a characteristic that can reduce energy costs by half. In addition, minimal risk of clogging means reduced operation costs.

Ingenious and effective design: The Malmberg Membrane Diffuser has a body of glassfibre-reinforced plastic and a perforated membrane of rubber, specially designed to resist aggressive environments. All metal parts are made of stainless steel.

The small perforations in the rubber membrane ensure fine-sized bubbles, which in turn ensure effective aeration. When the air supply is closed the membrane lies flat against the plastic body, providing a check valve function.

In addition there is an extra check valve function at the inflow section. This ensures that the water cannot run backwards into the diffuser or the piping system, thus minimizing the risk of clogging. This is extremely important in treatment plants for denitrification where certain aerated zones are intermittently closed.

High oxygen transfer efficiency combined with minimal risk of clogging is also very important for treatment plants without denitrification processes. The wide operating range of the Malmberg Diffusers, 1-20 Nm3 /h in operation, means that stringent requirements on variations in oxygen demands can be fulfilled, such as those required by nitrogen-removal facilities.

In other words, the Malmberg system fulfills customer requirements, using simplified piping systems to reduce investments costs, while high efficiency and reliability mean significantly reduced operation costs.
