MiniOne Winston - Fluorescence Reader
The Winston Fluorescence Reader, part of the MiniOne Systems lineup, is explicitly designed for educational settings to introduce students to the principles of fluorescence. This handheld device enables the visualization of otherwise invisible samples by utilizing fluorescence, particularly those that are colorless, in low abundance, and beyond the visible range. It operates by exciting samples with blue light, allowing students to witness sample reactions in vibrant colors. The device is an invaluable tool for educational labs, supporting learning in essential biotech skills such as dilutions, pipetting, and concentration calculations. The Winston Reader package includes a MiniOne Photo Hood, a platform capable of holding up to four DNA samples, a rechargeable battery, and a USB charging cable. Furthermore, MiniOne Systems provides free protocols and activities for educators, helping to engage students in experiments related to fluorescence, photosynthesis, and more, enhancing their practical and theoretical understanding of molecular biology.
The newest addition to the MiniOne® family of classroom-friendly biotech equipment, The Winston Fluorescence Reader helps introduce students to concepts of fluorescence.
Using fluorescence to visualize samples and reactions is a common molecular biology technique to determine how much sample is present or what is happening in a sample since the samples are often colorless, low in abundance, and too small to see.
Fluorescent visualization can now be done in the palm of your hand with The Winston Fluorescence Reader.
This system is designed to work with samples that can be excited by blue light. With MiniOne Systems’ Winston Fluorescence Reader, students use fluorescence to detect and see samples glow in colors they won’t believe and then document their findings.
