MINORE - Bio Soil for Biodiversity Projects

Improving biodiversity, soil preservation, sustainable construction & water management have all in some way been highlighted within recent Government legislation. Those topics have been embedded in policy & guidance such as Green Infrastructure Framework, National Planning Policy, Environmental Improvement Plan, Environmental Land Management, Biodiversity Net Gain & Regenerative Farming.

MINORE has been undertaking extensive research & development into manufacturing soils & clays  for a variety of applications guided by new legislation, policy & strategies around the preservation of our natural environment & resources. These products will be used to improve soil preservation & water management & support biodiversity projects across the agriculture, horticulture & green construction sectors.

Our Eco Soil can be characterised as a well draining gritty sandy soil with a percentage of silt to bind the soil. The percentage of sand & grit to silt & clay is 85% to 15%. Eco Soil meets the specification for stony cohesive material used as general fill under the Specification for Highways Works series 600 & 800 for fill materials. Under generic assessment criteria (GAC) for housing with plant uptake the material is suitable for houses with gardens & complies with the British Standards for topsoil, BS3882 & subsoil BS8016.

Biodiversity

MINORE has developed a repurposed Bio soil specifically for biodiversity applications. Our Bio soil has also been paired with specific wildflower mixes to provide sustainable soil solutions for biodiversity projects.

Our Bio Soil is a sandy loam, low nutrient topsoil, ideally suited for biodiversity wildflower planting projects. Wildflowers  thrive in soil with low nutrients. Nutrient rich soils, whilst perfect for the agriculture, planting & horticultural sectors cause major problems for wildflowers. Many of our ordinary grasses spread rapidly, outcompeting the wildflowers for water, light & nutrients which  eventually cause the grass to smother & kill the wildflowers. 

Sustainable Construction Projects

MINORE Bio Soil provides a well graded, screened, free draining, general fill, base material for a variety of large or small scale sustainable construction projects such as  building sub base, paths, driveways, paving, patios, pipe bedding  etc. The bio soil characteristics also provide a homogeneous supplementary material ideal for the construction products manufactures & sand & gravel processors.
