Model Beta-2- (B2MG) -Microglobulin Elisa Kit

SHARE

Human beta-2 microglobulin ELISA kit can be used for determining in vitro quantitative amounts of beta-2-microglobulin (B2MG) in human serum, cell culture supernatant and various other biological samples. This assay has a minimum detection limit of < 0.2 μg/mL.

BACKGROUND

Beta-2 microglobulin (B2MG) is a 11 kDA protein that was originally identified as a small serum protein, this small size helps B2MG to pass through the glomerular membrane and it is also often completely reabsorbed in the proximal tubules. It is able to form the subunit of the MHC class I molecule and also be associated with many outer membrane of a number of cells which includes lymphocytes. It is usually is present in the subunit of class I major histocompatibility complex (MHC I) which can be found expressed on all nucleated cell except red blood cells. B2MG is also linked with MHC I-like molecules for example CD1 and Qa.

Generally it is present in minute amounts but tends to increase its expression or even adapt to the fibrillary configuration depending on certain pathological states. Often B2MG is present at low levels in the serum or urine of normal people, however these concentrations are much higher in patients having kidney transplants, renal diseases and various other infectious or inflammatory conditions. The following beta-2 microglobulin ELISA kit is an ideal tool for analysing the function and regulation of this protein.

SENSITIVITY

The minimum detection sensitivity level B2MG (beta-2-microglobulin) using current human beta-2 microglobulin ELISA kit was 3.0 μg/mL. The dynamic range for this assay is 0.75 – 12.0 μg/mL.
