SHARE

The DSD-3010 Spray System is designed to spray seawater or diluted dispersant chemical. The diesel engine powered pump package utilizes the metered education concept of blending and dispensing dispersant solutions. The system consists of pump unit mounted on aluminum frame. The pump is driven by a 10 H.P. (7.5kW), single cylinder, recoil start diesel engine. The pump is a chemical resistant HyPro Roller (self- priming) unit. The pump unit comes complete with 20 ft. of one (1) inch dispersant pick up tube and a 3 to 40 gpm flow meter. Included is 20 ft. of two (2) inch suction hose with strainer for sea water pickup. Also included is 2 ea. 1 1/2" discharge hoses to feed the dispenser arms.

Two aluminum spray arms will be provided with mounting brackets which allow the spray arms to be retracted along side the vessel when not in use. Each spray arm will be approximately 30 feet (10M) long and equipped with ten (10) spray nozzles each. "Vee-Jet" Spray nozzles provide the proper spray pattern for dispensing dispersant in the appropriate droplet size and pressure.

Other features are:

  • Bronze "Jet Pump" eductor
  • Lifting Eyes
  • Dosage 5 - 30 gal./acre at speed of 3 - 10 knots
  • Glycerin filled pressure gauge
  • Compatible for use with all currently available dispersant chemicals.
  • Pump rate: Variable 3 - 40 GPM

Accessories Available:

  • Hand-Held Sprayers
  • AFEDO rail-mount sprayers
  • Drop-down Pipe Nozzle adapters for taller vessels

General Instruction:

  • Maximum operating pressure 580 PSI or 40 bar.
  • At pressures below 100 PSI or 7 bar, the nozzle will have reduced flow and reach. Be sure to have enough flow and pressure for the fighting condition.
  • Open and close shut-off valve slowly. Sudden opening or closing can cause water hammer.
  • Not for use on electrical fire.
  • Do not over tighten the nozzle onto the hose connection.
  • Do not alter the nozzle in any manner.
  • For use with water and fire fighting foam only.

Operating Instruction:

  • Open and close the shutoff slowly.
  • To Open: Pull the handle toward the inlet
  • To Close: Push the handle toward the outlet.
  • To change the spray pattern: rotate the bumper. Rotate it clockwise for stream and counterclockwise for wide fog.
  • To change the flow setting: slowly rotate the index flow con required setting and adjust your fire engine to provide 100 PSI a nozzle.
  • To flush the nozzle, rotate the index flow control ring to the FLUSH

Maintenance:

  • The nozzle should be inspected before and after each use to ensure it in good operating condition.
  • If you encounter the following situations, the nozzles should be taken out of service and repaired.
    • Controls that are either inoperable or difficult to operate
    • Excessive wear
    • Water leaks
    • Broken spinning teeth
  • Periodically flushing the nozzle with clean water and remove the dirt from the nozzle.
  • Regularly check the baffle screw to be sure it is tight enough.

AFEDO™ Nozzles
Ayles Fernie AFEDO™ Nozzles are an alternative to conventional oil dispersant application devices. Ideal for use where operational flexibility is important.

AFEDO™ Nozzles are designed for application from "vessels of opportunity" such as Tugs, Offshore Supply Vessels and Workboats. AFEDO™ Nozzles create port and starboard spray plumes in a spray pattern with an even distribution of droplets some 10m to 15m in length.
