The product uses the existing organic debris in the surface water/sediment as a carbon source, the bacteria in Algae EcoKlear assimilate excess nitrogen and phosphorus from the treated water as a source of nutrients for cell growth and development, without harming fish and other aquatic life and without undue consumption of dissolved oxygen.
