Model MCP Series -Multi-channel pipette calibration workstation

SHARE

The MCP series, the multi-channel pipette calibration solutions from METTLER TOLEDO, are fast, flexible and precise – ideal for calibrating multi-channel but also single-channel pipettes. The dedicated calibration software ensures that pipettes are calibrated according to ISO 8655 and makes data handling for all calibrated pipettes easy and fast. As an example, a standard 12-channel pipette can now be calibrated in just 14 minutes (according to ISO 8655 *). A quick pipette check with four measurements per channel takes just six minutes.

Features and Benefits
Grows with your needs
Based on its modular design, an MCP calibration system can easily be adapted to your growing needs. The MCP1-S, MCP2 and MCP3 workstations are cost-effective solutions to perform quick and intermediate checks. The MCP4 and MCP5 workstations are ideal for real high-throughput pipette calibration. Should you have more pipettes to calibrate the system grows with your needs, protecting your investment and guaranteeing an optimum return on investment (ROI).
Developed to fulfill ISO 8655
Both the MCP series and the XP26PC have been developed to meet ISO 8655, the new international standard for calibration of piston-operated volumetric apparatus such as hand pipettes. According to ISO 8655 the gravimetric method is the only recommended method for pipette calibration. The METTLER TOLEDO liquid handling calibration devices offer a unique set of built in functionalities to meet ISO 8655, such as:

  • for volumes ≤ 10µl a resolution of 0.001mg (XP26PC)
  • for volumes ≤ 100µl a resolution of 0.01mg (MCP and XP26PC)
  • errors due to evaporation are reduced to a minimum by means of an evaporation trap
  • number of measurements and the test volumes are given as a preconfigured "ISO method" in the calibration software
  • calibration software enables correction for environmental conditions such as temperature, barometric pressure and relative humidity

Professional and complete service
Service XXL offers service on demand, be it validation, qualification (iPac with IQ, OQ, PQ), installation and training, or maintenance packages.

Where precise pipetting is critical
The MCP calibration systems are designed for various applications and users: for accredited calibration labs providing full pipette calibration, for QC labs, ensuring that all pipettes used in the company always work properly, as well as for all pipette users who want to make a quick check before starting an experiment where accurate and precise pipetting is critical.

Fast, ergonomic and compact
The smallest system, the MCP1-S unit, allows on-site tests, as it is packed in a compact transport case and weighs just 15 kg - a truly portable solution. One weighing unit comprises a balance with a resolution of 0.01 mg and an automated transport system which ensures fast and subsequent weighing of up to 12 individual liquid samples dispensed by the pipette. The MCP system is rapid, flexible and compact. It is unique in its design, for calibrating and testing multi-channel and single-channel pipettes. According to your needs, one MCP integrated system comprises one, two, three, four or five automatic weighing units. These units work smoothly together thus increasing calibration throughput substantially.

Calibration time and Return of Investment
An experienced person needs an estimated 2-4 hours to calibrate a 12-channel pipette according to ISO 8655, which requires weighing of 360 liquid samples, using a traditional balance (3 volumes, 10 repetitions, 12 channels). With just a single unit (MCP1-S), the time required for calibration is reduced to 59 minutes. With five connected units (MCP5), the calibration time drops to only 14 minutes, which is 16 times faster than the manual process! Depending on the number of MCP units selected, the return on investment (ROI) is reached already after 15 and 30 days, or 200 to 500 calibrations.

Maximal productivity with minimal down-time
Due to the extremely fast calibration time and a liquid capacity of up to 80ml, the MCP system results in maximal productivity and minimal down-time. In Addition the unique modular design of the MCP gives the opportunity to continue calibration while one weighing cell is serviced. Thus, the modular design gives a true advantage in cost saving.

Easy to use software
The advanced control and data management software makes the MCP system easy to use. Errors are reduced to give greater measurement accuracy. The software is available for stand-alone workstations or for a network of combined balances that can be located in different laboratories. It allows calibration according to ISO 8655 and data storage for several thousand pipettes. The software solutions are compliant with FDA`s 21CFR Part 11. Some enhanced features of the calibration software are:

  • Perfect organization of pipettes and pipette calibration data
  • Storing of complete electronic records of calibration testing results
  • Calculations are performed in accordance with the requirements of ISO 8655
  • Integrated and powerful scheduler automatically updates a "to do list" for daily calibration tasks
  • Reporting of calibration data and results is comprehensive and complete and gives the opportunity to easily edit according to individual needs
