Model NGN8510 -ALLwell – ELISA kit (R5-AOAC)
ELISA test for gluten based on R5 antibody as prescribed by the Codex Alimentarius. The kit can be used for the quantitative analysis of ingredients, CIP rinses and finished food products intended to be gluten free. It can also be used for screening environmental swabs. Gliadin and other prolamins in wheat, barley and rye are extracted and sampled with a 60% ethanol solution or a cocktail with a high concentration of mercaptoethanol according to the Mendez method by shaking in a shaker or rotator. The extract is diluted in buffered saline (PBS) and diluted samples are added to R5 antibody-coated wells (capture antibody) where gliadin will bind to the antibody during an incubation period. To be subsequently detected by a second R5 antibody (detector antibody) labeled with an enzyme that in the presence of a special substrate develops a coloration proportional to the concentration of gluten.
