Model SC 214 -Scale Control System

SHARE

This Scale Control System protects your heat exchanger from hardness scale deposits and corrosion. Featuring PolyCor technology water is 1 iltered and conditioned resulting in greatly reduced mineral adhesion to the inner surface of the heat exchanger and a thin film protects metallic components from corrosive conditions. 05 Water Systems, Inc. recommends regularly scheduled maintenance and rep lacement of the filter cartridge(s) in ordei for the product to perform as advertised / sold.

Prior to Installing the Scale Control System

  • Do not use with water that is microbiologically unsafe or of unknown quality without adequate disinfection.
  • Install only when heat exchanger is new or immediately after it has been descaled.
  • Install the system where the housing is in an accessible location for changing the cartridge. Allow a minimum 1" space under the cartridge housing in order to remove it from the head.
  • DO NOT install sideways or upside down. The system must be installed with the cartridge directly below the feed head.
  • DO NOT install the scale control system within a recirculation loop.
  • DO NOT install the Scale Control System where it Is exposed to direct sunlight. If installed outdoors, ensure the system is covered or insulated from direct sunlight and/or to protect it from freezing.
  • Installation of a by-pass system is recommended for easier maintenance.

Installation

  1. Identify location of installation. Installation must be on the cold water supply line prior to the water heater. Note: direction of flow.
  2. Turn off water supply.
  3. Use Teflon tape and/or thread sealant on male threaded fittings prior to connecting to system. Do not overtighten.
  4. If using sweat fittings, protect the system from excessive heat.
  5. Use a backup wrench next to the system if compression fittings are used.
  6. Inset filter into housing with BLUE PolyCor"" cap up and screw sump onto head (hand tighten only).
  7. If a bypass is used, make sure the bypass is in a closed position.
  8. Once installation is complete, turn supply water on and allow water to flow and purge air from supply line and check for    leaks.
